ABOUT THIS WEBSITE'S FLAGS

Black Perspectives Radio.com has been Up and Running since 1996.  The logo that you see each time that you visit our site has headed the home page since our inception.  As you can see our mast head reads:  From Africa.....To Us.....To The World.
Along with each part of our statement is a symbol.  For the first part a picture of the African Continent, for the second it is a  torn and tattered American Flag above what has become known as the Flag of Black Liberation, after that a revolving world globe.
This not a flag of Libya as some have erroneously believed.  Now that Libya is in the news there has been a misunderstanding.
The truth is the Libya Flag was officially adopted on November 11, 1977. It is the only flag in the whole world with just one single color. There are no designs, insignia or other details on the flag of Libya . The green color is the symbol for Islam which emphasizes the long devotion and respect of people to their religion. Green is also the national color of the country. The first national flag of modern Libya was adopted in 1951, when the country gained independence. The symbols and colors on the Libyan flag have constantly been changing until 1977 when the current one was adopted. The green color also stands for the late Gaddafi's "Green Revolution".

The Libyan Revolutionist have created their own flag and that is a copy of the Flag of Black Liberation with a half moon and star of the Islam.

In the From The Make area of the website there is an explanation of the need for two flags in our masthead.  Agree or not with that explanation, thank you for taking time to read it.

THE RED BLACK AND GREEN
WORDS FROM THE PRESIDENT ON THE BLESSINGS OF LIBERTY
"On the day I became President, I talked of liberty as a seed upon the wind, taking root in many nations. For over two decades, our hemisphere has been fertile ground for freedom. So many men and women have left the shadow of oppression and fear. This is not the time to grow timid or weary. Freedom is still our best weapon against tyranny and want. In so many places in this hemisphere liberty has been won. Now the blessings of liberty must be extended to every life."
--George W. Bush -- After the attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11/2001

EDITOR
A word from the Editor:

In my position as editor of this website I have tried to create, and keep, a fairness in the presentation of the content, especially concerning the News and Political areas.  The purpose of Black Perspectives Radio.com as a adjunct to and a product of, The former Afrikan Heritage Institute (Boston) was and continues to be a presenter of  pages that we hope provide to any and all the history of a culture that continues to grow outside of , and within, the total culture of Africa and all parts of the Diaspora.

The contributions herein are not designed to take a stand, pro or con, but more so to present both sides in all areas relating to the African and African-American. The editorial page can be considered a BLog page as it fits the combination of two words that define the term: Web Log; so in one sense this can be considered a journal of the life of a people.

For further commentary on this please go to From the Mike page located in this website.
