Sylvain Musquar, French Chocolate-Maker, Tops Treats With Insects
10/14/2013

There are some amazing chocolates to be found throughout France, from bars to truffles. But French chocolate maker Sylvain Musquar is setting himself apart from the rest by offering some truly one-of-a-kind creations. He's offering chocolates topped with gold-dusted crickets and worms.

Musquar's creations, which sell for €22 (about $30) per box of nine chocolates, might make some people squirm. But serving insects are in fact part of a larger trend encouraging better eating habits. A U.N. report from earlier this year found that eating insects might help combat obesity. Insects are also widely-considered to be an extremely sustainable protein.

Although eating a single chocolate cricket might not save the world, it's a good way to get used to dining on bugs.
